Larkspur real estate can be found between the Tri-Lakes area and Castle Rock, right on I-25. Larkspur real estate is just 43 short miles from Denver, and is one of the most comfortable small communities in the region.

The history of Larkspur hearkens back to 1862. In January of that year, the post office established a territorial office in Huntsville, also in Douglas County. The post office was discontinued in August of 1867. When it was reestablished in April of 1869, the name changed from Huntsville to Larkspur. Larkspur became an incorporated town in 1979.

One of the most distinguishing features of Larkspur is that it is home to the Colorado Renaissance Festival. Each year, thousands gather to experience life that hearkens back to an earlier time, long before Colorado was ever founded. The Renaissance festival features more than 200 artisans, as well as hundreds of costumed performers. From jesters to jousting, there’s something for everyone at the festival.

Larkspur homes also have the advantage of being near the Bear Dance Golf Course. This 18-hole public golf course is home to the Colorado Professional Golf Association Historical Center. The Outlet Mall in Castle Rock is nearby, and the Spur of the Moment Roadhouse is a favorite hangout for residents of Larkspur.

Homes in this rural community have the advantage of country living while knowing that the amenities of the Denver metro area are less than an hour away.
